MEHEM v03 Installer FAQ

Problem: When I try to install mehem, I get "Default.sfar (EC) is incorrect size! Aborting Installation."

Cause: Your Extended Cut DLC file has been modified, either by a previous (manual) installation of MEHEM, or maybe even another mod. The installer can only work with vanilla, unmodifed up-to-date ME3 files. If you ever perform a manual MEHEM installation, take care to make your own back-ups of the files you're modifying.

Solution #1: Check to see if a back-up file was automatically created for you. On your computer, go to the folder:
"Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\DLC_CON_END\CookedPCConsole\"
Check to see if there is a "Default.sfar.bak" or a "Default.sfar.bup" that is 1,919,137,514 bytes. If there is, you have a back-up of the unmodifed DLC file. Delete Default.sfar, and rename the back-up file to Default.sfar. Then try to install MEHEM again.

Solution #2: If you have your own Mass Effect 3 back-up files, then try restoring "Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\DLC_CON_END\CookedPCConsole\Default.sfar" from your back-ups. Also, delete any other files in that folder, you should only have Default.sfar. Then try to install MEHEM again.

Solution #3: If you have no back-up files to restore the Extended Cut DLC, you must either redownload it or get the manual MEHEM installation. Note that if you choose to perform the manual installation, you will still need to repair your Extended Cut DLC if you ever want to use the installer in the future. To redownload/repair the Extended Cut DLC, do the following:
Run Origin, click on ME3, go to the addons section, right click "Extended Cut", then choose "Repair Install". This will redownload the unmodified version. When finished, you can try the MEHEM installer again.

Problem: When I try to install mehem, I get "Default.sfar (Leviathan) is incorrect size! Aborting Installation."

Cause: Your Leviathan DLC file has been modified, either by a previous (manual) installation of MEHEM, or maybe even another mod.

"Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\DLC_EXP_Pack001\CookedPCConsole\"
Check to see if there is a "Default.sfar.bak" or a "Default.sfar.bup" that is 1,561,239,503 bytes. If there is, you have a back-up of the unmodifed DLC file. Delete Default.sfar, and rename the back-up file to Default.sfar. Then try to install MEHEM again.

Solution #2: If you have your own Mass Effect 3 back-up files, then try restoring "Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\DLC_EXP_Pack001\CookedPCConsole\Default.sfar" from your back-ups. Also, delete any other files in that folder, you should only have Default.sfar. Then try to install MEHEM again.

Solution #3: If you have no back-up files to restore the Leviathan DLC, you must either redownload it or get the manual MEHEM installation. Note that if you choose to perform the manual installation, you will still need to repair your Extended Cut DLC if you ever want to use the installer in the future. To redownload/repair the Extended Cut DLC, do the following:
Run Origin, click on ME3, go to the addons section, right click "Leviathan", then choose "Repair Install". This will redownload the unmodified version. When finished, you can try the MEHEM installer again.

Problem: The installer didn't ask me if I wanted Geth slides. HALP!

Cause: MrFob has integrated the Geth slides directly into MEHEM v03. The game will recognize the Geth situation and show the appropriate slides.

Solution: Nothing. Everything's fine.

Problem: When the Crucible fires, I get the Low-EMS version of the Normandy retreat scene (ship on fire and exploding), even though I have a high EMS.

Cause: This occurs when you use a save that did not have the Extended Cut installed prior to launching the Chronos Station/Attack on Cerberus HQ mission.

Solution: Load a save from BEFORE the Chronos Station mission. If you don't have one, you can beat the game with the "bugged" ending. After the credits, you will be returned to the Normandy, and you will have a new Save File from just before the Chronos Station mission.

Problem: Oh noes! I accidentally deleted/uninstalled Mass Effect 3 without first uninstalling MEHEM, and now the MEHEM installer says it's already installed. BUT IT'S NOT!!1! Eleventy!

Cause: The MEHEM Installer puts its install status in the registry (in Mass Effect 3's section). If you delete ME3 without uninstalling MEHEM, it gets left behind.

Solution: Run the MEHEM Uninstaller. IMPORTANT: There is a bug in the original MEHEM v04 Uninstaller that only occurs in the exact situation in which you now find yourself. It will delete one of your vanilla ME3 video files.
Therefore, you should run the UPDATED v04 Uninstaller, which can be found HERE.
